How to play Durak.
Durak is a much-loved Russian-style card game whose name means 'fool' — the fool is the last player still holding cards when everyone else has run out. It uses a 36-card deck, and one suit is turned up as the trump, which beats any card of a different suit. Each player gets six cards, and the roles of attacker and defender pass around the table from bout to bout.
The attacker lays down a card and the defender must beat it with a higher card of the same suit or with any trump; a defender who cannot — or chooses not to — picks the cards up. Hands are topped back up to six from the deck until it is exhausted, and your aim is to shed every card before the others.
